MORE ABOUT BOB'S WALK
We followed Bob's brave walk from here to Liverpool this April and May, in recognition of the love, kindness and generosity shown to him and, more especially, to Carol when they most needed it. Bob says a big thank you for all the donations made by so many people for MABS.

He collected a massive 2,177 euros for MABS, and is here presenting the cheque.

BOB'S LONG WALK

Bob plans his arrival into Liverpool in mid-May - unless he is able to hitch some rides in which case he'll be there sooner. He says he won’t be too proud to accept the odd lift!

Donations and sponsorship funds can be banked directly into the MABS Cancer Support Group Bank Account, details of which are on this page.
Thank you to everyone of you who has spoken to Bob so far and to those who he is seeing this week. Here at MABS Cancer Support Group we really appreciate all of your efforts because everything collected will go towards helping cancer sufferers here in Spain.

All money collected by way of sponsorship, and along the route, will be donated to MABS CANCER SUPPORT in recognition of the love, kindness and generosity shown to him and, more especially, to Carol when they most needed it. Bob says a big thank you in advance to everyone who makes a lump sum donation.

BOB'S PROGRESS

Day 1
Bob reached Orihuela Town on 1st April 2010 at 17.00hrs having walked 27 km from Concierto's Bar, Playa Flamenca. He was a bit tired but bouyant.

Day 2
Bob has walked 16kms today. He was offered a lift to Jumilla where he is going to bed down for the night. He is heading for Tobarra tomorrow. Still in good spirits and he says thanks for the messages of encouragement.

Day 3
Bob has struggled today with a bad knee. He managed to walk 16kms when a Dutch couple in a camper van stopped as they could see he was limping, and asked if he was okay. Bob explained what he was doing and they offered him a lift . They dropped him off on the outskirts of Burgos. He is going to stay in Burgos for a couple of days to rest his knee as he is in quite a bit of pain.
He has another 200kms to go until he reaches Santander.

Day 4
Bob still in Burgos. His knee is feeling much better, just a bit of a twinge! He intends to set of early tomorrow, heading towards Santander. He says thank you for all your kind words of good wishes and encouragement.

Day 5
Bob left Burgos at 07.50hrs today. He has walked 27kms on the N623 and has reached Quintanilla, where he will bed down for the night. He's still in good spirits. The knee is fine but the hips are palying up now! Bob is hoping to catch the ferry from Santander on the 15th April.

Day 6
Bob has reached San Felices another 24km achieved today. Still in very good spirits, lovely weather, and he can see snow on the mountains! He is going to head for Lake Ebro where he and Carol spent many a happy afternoon lazing around. He is still in a bit of pain with his hips but says he has enough pain killers to kill a horse!!!

Day 7
Bob is in Carrales, 22kms walked today. Hips are ok but he's 'knackered'! Painkillers are working. The weather was a bit drizzely this morning when he set off, but the sun came out mid afternoon, but says the wind is blowing cold. He's going to spend an hour at the lake tomorrow. He thinks he'll be in Santander before the 15th!!!

Day 8
Bob has reached San Andres. Weather sunny but cool. He has walked just over 20kms. He went to Lake Ebro today and spent a quiet hour there remembering the special times that he had with Carol. He said that his feet need some tender love & care so he is going to soak them in vinegar!! At the moment he is not in any pain as he has lost the feeling in his toes. He should reach Santander in about 2 days, which is approximately 40kms away from where he is now. He'll stay there until next Thursday, then get the ferry to plymouth. He said he is looking forward to having a rest. He said that should he ever
mention doing a walk like this again, please shoot him!!!!!!

Day 9
Bob left San Andres this morning at 07.30hrs and has arrived at Vargas about 20kms away from Santander. His feet are still sore, but they are now "tingley" so he has regained feeling in them. He could have walked further but wants to take it easy. He was offered two lifts today but declined them, (personally I would have accepted!) as he is enjoying the walk!!!! Weather good, but a cold wind blowing, he can see the snow being blown off the mountains.
I apologise to those of you who have being waiting for the update, I am having trouble with my browser. Linda if you are reading this Bob did not get your text. I will ring you tomorrow.
Waiting for your call
