CANCER SUPPORT GROUP NEEDS MORE VOLUNTEERS! Just an hour or two a week can make such a difference In eleven years MABS Cancer Support Group has grown to be one the largest and most successful charities in Spain bringing help and support to people with, or affected by, cancer all along the Costas from Valencia to Gibraltar. Regrettably the number of people here in Spain who’s lives are touched by cancer is growing;  for us to deal with this increase in requests for care and support we need more volunteer staff, of all nationalities. MABS needs your help. Supporters Our supporters are the key to our success. They are always people who have been directly affected by cancer; they have either had cancer and are in remission or they are people who have looked after loved ones who have suffered this terrible disease. If you feel you might be comfortable talking face-to-face or on the telephone to those who are ill, or can help by giving advice to their families, we should love to hear from you. None of our supporters is medically trained but we have access to the best medical advice available. We help, advise, facilitate and, most importantly, we speak and act from experience. Buddies MABS Buddies provide a link to frightened and lonely people, no direct experience of cancer is necessary. We need more people who have a little spare time to visit a person who is ill for a cup of tea, to do some shopping for them, even take their dog for a walk and just to be a buddy to them. Many people find themselves alone fighting through the difficult and uncomfortable treatments. Others find themselves alone when their partner passes on. They need a little friendship, someone to visit them or just a person who is available on the ‘phone for support, conversation and a little bit of TLC. Volunteer Drivers, Translators, Charity Shop helpers MABS always needs drivers, translators, and people to work in our charity shops at La Xara, (Costa Blanca), Muxtamel and Mazarron. If you can spare any time, however much or however little and in whatever capacity,  please make contact with us and have a chat. Just an hour or two a week could make an incredible difference to someone.
