WHAT WE DO
Cancer dramatically alters the lives of patients and those around them. Circumstances change and need explanation and advice from those who’ve already been there. We are here to listen and to advise.
Our volunteers will provide practical support, reassurance and expert advice, either by phone or face-to-face, to help with the ordinary day-to-day problems of cancer from transport to interpreters, from hospital escorts to wheelchair loan.
It’s sometimes difficult to ask for help or support;
When cancer strikes, most people have no idea of where to go for help, and who they can talk to. And most of us also find it difficult to ask for help because either we don't like to 'impose', or we don't feel able to talk about personal problems. The good thing about MABS is that most of our volunteers have been touched by cancer and have a good idea what callers are going through.
We respect a person’s privacy so we won't try to dig for information you may not want to give - but if you need us we’ll be right by your side, whenever you need us.

OUR SERVICES INCLUDE:
- support and help for patients, their families and those close to them, by phone at all times and with home visits if needed
- a Support Centre with a treatment room for lymphatic drainage and other complimentary treatments
- Palliative nursing
- information on ALL cancers and treatments
- information on cancer drugs
- translators to assist at clinics and hospitals
- drivers and transport where necessary
