BECOME A VOLUNTEER.

We have over 300 wonderful volunteers helping MABS as and when they can, but we always need more people who can spare some time to help us help others:

Do you have time to spare? Maybe you took early retirement and have time on your hands since moving to Spain?

Do you have nursing training? Have you worked in the care industry? Maybe you speak Spanish as well as your native language and could translate at doctors and hospital appointments? Do you drive? Are you a fundraiser?

We are always looking for people with any of these attributes – but we are also looking for people who will ‘be a pal’ to those undergoing cancer treatment alone. Can you pop in and make a cuppa, do a bit of shopping, pick up the newspaper or read a story? MABS needs you very much.

With locations from Valencia in the north to Marbella in the south, both along the coast and inland, we are always looking for volunteers. While the treatment and success rate is going up, sadly the cases of cancer are not going down and every day we are contacted by people who have just been diagnosed.  For those going through treatment alone it’s even harder than when you have family around.

For this reason, however much or little time you have or however much or little you can do, if you have anything to give we would appreciate you downloading and completing our Volunteer Form. Return it to Linda@mabscancersupport.org who will forward it to the Branch Director covering your area. Many thanks.
MORE THAN JUST DONATIONS

There are many ways in which you can get involved. Donating money is the quickest way – and of course we greatly appreciate it.

But a little of your time is just as important - are you able to help with a few hours to help perhaps in simple ways? It means so much.

If so, then please call or email us.

HOW YOU CAN HELP US
Becoming a volunteer means more than just giving some time - it is also a great way to meet new like-minded people. Many wonderful friendships have happened between individuals and families, just by helping people at their time of need.
Drivers - mainly means helping to get people to a clinic, or collecting them from hospital. At critical times, a partner may be just too upset and stressed to drive, so a helping hand can bring great comfort.
Translators - to help patients and partners fully understand what is going on, or perhaps at legal, financial or other professional offices.
Supporters/buddies - this is one of the most important ways you can help. All our supporters have had cancer themselves so they have the experience and knowledge to pass on. And although having cancer will affect people in different ways, they will be able to quickly assess how best to help.
Assistants and Administrators - always needed to help out in our friendly team with small and not-so-small tasks and day-to-day office needs of running, publicising and administering one of Spain's most successful cancer charities, either on a permanent basis or for a one-off event, a regular event like the ball, or helping out in one of our charity shops.
Shopping/Prescription collection - it means so much for patients and partners to know there is help at hand when they need it.

PRACTICAL HELP BRINGS REAL RELIEF

When cancer strikes, the world takes on a different proportion. What may before have been an inconvenience can become a serious problem - understanding medical Spanish being one of them. If you can help here, you will be treasured.
