A little help
MABS CANCER SUPPORT GROUP, MARBELLA
helps many sufferers through support, encouragement and information to ease the whole process from diagnosis through treatment and living with Cancer and in remission.

WE ARE JUST A PHONE CALL AWAY.
How we Started:
In response to calls for help from as far as the Costa del Sol, Jacqui, our President & Founder of MABS Cancer Support Group in Marina Alta, came down to Marbella and formed the Group at the end of 2005.

Who we are
The Group comprises totally of volunteer members, most of them have experienced the illness in one form or another. Together with volunteers we provide support and services without charge irrespective of nationality, age, economic circumstances or medical history, to all places along the coast both east and west of Marbella.

What we do
The aim of the Group is to help men and women affected by cancer, with deep understanding, providing confidential ‘one- to-one’ support for them and their families. Helping them to look beyond the diagnosis, cope with the treatment, to live life comfortably. Our members know first-hand how it feels to be told you have cancer, or that someone close to you has been diagnosed with it. They understand the feeling of despair at not knowing where to turn for immediate and long-term support and practical help which can be found with the Groups’ support.

We provide information on all types of cancers with informative booklets.

We also arrange interpreters and transport to medical appointments. We have expanded in providing our services and support through calls to our branch MABS CSG Helpline  952833568 and by our many supportive members coming in to the monthly meetings.

Cancer Survivor

From dictionary.com the definition of a survivor is:
1. a person or thing that survives

2. Law. The one of two or more designated persons, as joint tenants or others having a joint interest, who outlives the other or others.

3. a person who continues to function or prosper in spite of opposition, hardship or setbacks. We come under definition number 3. It IS positive. It should inspire, empower and certainly encompass all those like us who have had cancer and continue to live with it.

Carers are survivors too….

Volunteers
Have you got time to help?

Not only do we need volunteers to help with transport and fund-raising events, we call on all cancer survivors too. Did you ever say, “if I can just get through this, I want to give back and help others”? That’s what some of our volunteers have said and put it into action by joining us.

We welcome both survivors of all cancer types and those who have cared for someone with cancer, to volunteer. Whatever your skills we need you. (Please call Bernadette for a form).
