| IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR MAZARRÓN AND MURCIA/MAR MENOR REGIONS MABS KEEPS ITS FINGER ON THE PULSE! MABS Cancer Support Group’s work expands daily and the charity is growing at such a pace that it’s important to ensure that the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the organisation keeps pace with that growth The success of the pilot scheme of splitting Marina Alta, and in Murcia adding the northwest and northeast branches, is now being extended to encompass Mazarrón into the Murcia/Mar Menor branch. Click here to see full details and contact information. |

| MAKING HISTORY IN CANCER SUPPORT IN SPAIN MABS CANCER SUPPORT GROUP was formed on the 7th June 1999 in Marina Alta. Originally it was started for breast cancer sufferers but when the medical profession started to send along people with other types of cancer, the MABS message of support to ALL cancer patients became “Cancer is treated with chemotherapy and radiotherapy in various forms and everyone should go for it because more often than not its successful!” That message has now been the rallying call for 12 years. Thanks to tireless work by Jacquelyne Philips MBE and her Committee, other branches have been established on the Costa Blanca, from Denia to Mar Menor as well as in Valencia, Costa del Azahar and Marbella, Costa del Sol. Costa Blanca is now divided into Marina Alta/Costa Blanca North and Costa Blanca South, with the division being Calpe. Murcia/Mar Menor covers the area south of Torrevieja. | Murcia North West team run a stall at the Calasparra market Cecilia Coulson and the Murcia North West team run a stall at the Calasparra market on the first and third Friday of each month. “The Spanish residents have shown a great interest in what MABS does and we are handing out information leaflets in Spanish. I am hoping that they will want to get involved in the work that we do.” said Cecilia. MABS Murcia/Mar Menor covers a large geographic area, so the satellite branches in the Fortuna, Calasparra and Cehegin areas are vital. | HELP NEEDED FOR OUR NEW MABS CANCER CENTRE One of the most exciting things happening at MABS Murcia/Mar Menor is our new Jacqueline Howes Cancer Centre, which we hope to be able to open in November. Through the generosity of our first cancer patient at Murcia/Mar Menor, Jacqueliine Howes, who bequeathed some money to MABS Murcia/Mar Menor in her will, we are able to realise the dream. We know that we will have a huge rush of interest once we open and we really do need lots more donations for the shop that will support this new venture, so we hope that you can help us. Click here for more details. ![]() |
